Strolling in the plaza, I’m so glad seeing my sister bringing the extra battery of my cam. Whew! timing the two young, fresh good looking guy pass by, noticing them, my sister then told me, “te, the 2 winners for the last night pageant, aw! Mr. Sibonga Tourism. So, why wait, grab the opportunity to take a pose, este! picture for these 2 guys. hmmm, in fairness my guts sila.

Bonga sa Sibonga
August 9,2009

Rise and shine for the fluvial parade and competition. Participated with so many motor banka in town, masked with different colors of paint and flower together with blessed image of our patron saints Señora del Pilar and Sta. Filomina, made the fluvial parade a very successful one. In fact, the motor banka of my father represent our Barangay. It starts so early in the morning around 6:00 am. The Sibonga warf filled with so many expectators, local and foreign.

The fact that I don’t have sleep during that day, I really went home just to witnessed this year Bonga Festival. The Sibonganhon were blessed with good weather and made the Bonga Festival Competition a very competitive one. Sibonga officials were present and of course the town Mayor Hon. Leonil Bacaltos, narate this year Bonga sa Sibonga. Bonga “Fruit”, the asphalt road from simala to lindogon (going to the lindogon church), the asphalt road of sibonga streets, the barangay street lights and the sibonga community college, which in return giving recognition and thanks to the beloved city governor Gwendolyn Garcia. My very first time seeing in person the lovely, strong, courageous lady governor, with her 2 board member Hon Daan and Hon. Bolo.

As the competition begin, the crowd became more and more…singot, init, saksak sinagol ang baho but for those people who were there during that time, it was really a worth remembering for. Guess what? I can’t show the actual dance competition because lucky enough, my cam shutoff before the competition start. It was really a total mess for me.

Sabang won the 150K

Located, south of cebu and about 48 kms. away from the city.

The sabanganhon rejoice after the announcement made by Gwen Garcia the City of Cebu Governor, the winner for the EGWEN project held in CICC. The event attended by some of the top provincial officials. With our Brgy, Captain Mr. Ray Apuda, proudly received the 150,000 cash and make use the amount for “palikuran para sa mga nanginahanglan”. Bringing the title as the winner, all barangay sabanganhon officials who initiated the cleanliness drive and the organization of our barangay, from the paint in the side walk/ highway, the big trash can project in cooperation with sk officials and barangay officials which was distributed right along the highway made it a highlight, the street light with around 48 post standing and are fully functioning, the plants along the highway made with the purok officials and members, the barangay library and the waiting kiosk or purok made us the sabanganhon to the top.

Right now, the barangay bought a brand new lawn mower for easy highway clean up. Fellow Sabanghon are working hand in hand to hopefully take home again the prize for another category which I can’t announce it for now, but surely it will give the barangay a great pride. Where not talking here thousands but where talking here half or million. If the sabanganhon win this prize surely it help a lot in our place.

Marian Monks Monastery

Marian Monks Monastery and the Mother Mary Santuary

The house of Mother Mary’s images, the Church – famous for those who believe and the monastery of the Marian Monks – 3 in 1 place. About 60 Kilometers away from the city of Cebu South, there you can find the holy land – from the small town of Sibonga -you can find Simala welcoming everyone and inviting you to witness the true meaning of natural healing power. The sacred place – Lindogon Simala, witnessed the Miracle not only once but several times. From an altar it became a chapel and now it is no longer that but it is already a church, the church of God, the Church of Mother Mary, the Church for all believers. It’s really true that big things came from small beginning. It’s nice to know that Marian Monks really made the place not only amazing but stunning. Making used there resources, there lies the realization of the project.

Grabe ang kaiinit sa gawas. Para bang summer na summer na. Goodness gracious!, can’t embrace the heat of the sun lately. Even early in the morning, sakit na kaayo ang init- “dili matabang!”, mas-feel pa nako mag payong . What’s good in summer anyway? beaches? well, maka discourage- you like to enjoy the beach but can’t enjoy it anyway, ‘coz can’t even stay longer under the sun. Hmmm! summer outing is rampant. April to May the summer season of the year. One of the most common activity is the company/geeks/family summer outing, others go for team building which commonly held on the beach and beaches really are the top choice for everybody. Even my team are now planning what beach to visit this time. Last time we had it in Bantayan Island, now the team is still craving for beach outing which was granted anyway. A choice of Portofino in Lapu-lapu or Basdacu in Moalboal. Haaay! when it comes to beaches “grabeh” at lot to choose with. But what can be the best bet kaya…hmmm… Since init na kaayo karon, what are advisable to bring with?
